SCOPE
Climate change, health, comfort and energy are major world-wide concerns and research topics. In urban areas, these topics are strongly inter-related. The physical processes involved are commonly referred to as “Urban Physics”. Urban Physics covers a wide range of spatial scales, from the global scale down to the material scale and the human scale. Urban Physics is therefore inherently multi-scale and multi-disciplinary. This Urban Physics Autumn School explicitly focuses on the multi-scale and multi-disciplinary aspects. Topics range from climate change over urban acoustics and urban wind energy to human thermophysiology and material science.
This Urban Physics Autumn School is organized by Eindhoven University of Technology in collaboration with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ) and the University of Cyprus. It follows the two previous Urban Physics Schools organized by ETHZ (2011) and by the University of Cyprus (2012).
The Autumn School is designed especially for
doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers and intends to provide
state-of-the-art knowledge in Urban Physics, focused on its multi-scale,
multi-disciplinary and multi-phase character, including computational modeling
and experiments. We look forward to welcoming you at this Autum School to meet
experts and colleagues working in this exciting field!

Participants will stay at the beautiful 5-star hotel Anthemus Sea Beach Hotel & Spa situated in a picturesque bay along the “Elia Coast” of Sithonia in Halkidiki (Greece). Arrival is at Makedonia airport (Thessaloniki). The Hotel offers Superior Rooms for the guests. The Hotel shuttle bus can take you daily (except on Sunday) to the nearby villages of Neos Marmaras or Nikiti. Further information will be available upon registration.

DATES
Participants are welcome starting on Sunday October 13 and can stay until Saturday October 19. The School Lecture days will be Monday October 14 until Friday October 18. On Wednesday October 16, a special Greek folklore event will be organised for the participants and the lecturers.
REGISTRATION
Participants can register by sending an e-mail to a.khayrullina(at)tue.nl. The school fee is 950 euro per person and covers course registration, course material, accommodation (6 nights) and full board (breakfasts, lunches, dinners on all 6 days). Instructions on the payment will be sent after registration via e-mail. A letter of confirmation will be sent to the registered participants after the payment has been received. The number of participants is limited to 50 persons. The positions will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
